2019--Our second year at this location. We had a great display and lots of nice folks stopped by to visit us. Fergie the Fabulous Farm Tractor was more popular than ever, bringing quite a few future farmers in to our tent. I hope you enjoy the pictures below and come see us during the 2020 Boone County 4-H Fair.

2018--new year, new location. Our display at the Boone County 4-H fair was south of the center circle this year. It was a great spot! We had plenty of shade, good access from the road, and we were near some modern bathrooms! That's always a bonus at our age...We had a great time like we do every year--the weather wasn't too hot; there were lots of people visiting our display; many children climbing on our designated kiddie tractors and playing in our kids' tent; and hundreds of people signing our rare Ford tractor. Who knew Boone County had so many artists? Enjoy the pictures below.

Opening day was on a Saturday. Here are some pictures of the opening day parade.

Pioneer Day! The weather was nice but crowds were down. In addition to our ham & beans, chicken stew, and homemade ice cream, we offered grilled sweet corn this year. Below are some pictures of our activities and our display.

Our club always tries to go on two drives during the Fair. Our first drive went to Booker's in Kirklin where we enjoyed a delicious fried chicken lunch. The weather was beautiful, although the ladies got a bit wet on the way back. I call this drive, "The Barn Drive" since I took lots of picturs of barns along the way.

Our second drive was to Maplelawn Farmstead in Zionsville. We stuffed ourselves on homemade chicken and noodles and enjoyed visiting the farmstead. The weather was perfect.

Our 2017 tractor display and Pioneer Day were better than ever! I said that last year, didn't I? The Fair opened on a Saturday this year with plenty of daily events to bring in the crowds. We enjoyed two tractor drives through the country--one going to the LA Cafe in Whitestown and the other going to Stookey's in Thorntown. It's pretty neat seeing all those tractors lined up outside a restaurant! Our Pioneer Day was on Thursday, July 27. We had a bit of rain, but it cleared off enough for folks to come enjoy the ham & beans, chicken stew, and ice cream as well as visit the great vendors. In the evening, we hosted a tractor square dance and a tractor pull! Enjoy the pictures below.

Our 2016 tractor display and Pioneer Day were better than ever! The weather was typical--we had some stiflingly hot, muggy days and some pleasant days. Pretty typical for summer in Indiana! The Fair opens on a Friday and we have our club pitch-in a couple day later on Sunday evening. Below are some pictures of how we set up the tractors and other displays as well as shots from the pitch-in. Many happy people eating a lot of good home-cooked food! Finally, there are numerous pictures of tractor games enjoyed after the dinner.

Our Pioneer Day always occurs on Wednesday during the Fair. Our club serves up ham & beans and chicken stew cooked in large, cast iron pots over an open fire. We also churn ice cream using a hit and miss engine. This year we hired a mechanical bull--I didn't like the look in that bull's eye so I did not give it a try, but below are some pictures of our Pioneer Day and all the activites we enjoyed.

We also had two tractor drives through the country during the Fair. Our first drive took us to Stookey's Restaurant in Thorntown. It's quite a site to see all those tractors lined up along the road! The second drive found us at Cracker Barrel in Whitestown. Funny how our drives involve going to a restaurant...Both drives benefited from a police escort--Thank you Boone County, Whitestown, and Sheridan police!!!

2015--Mosquitoes were the theme for this year. We had a wet spring, many gardens drowned, many mosquitoes were born. The weather for the fair was good, though. Hot enough to make it feel like summer without sweltering. Our club had a wonderful time! This first group of pictures shows our club on the first tractor drive to Stookey's Restaurant in Thorntown. After that, there are some action shots of members having fun playing tractor games.

Here are some pictures of our second tractor drive during the Fair. We had 14 drivers participate. On the way to dine at the LA Cafe in Whitestown, members stopped at a local nursing home for a visit. The residents there had fun looking at all the tractors lined up in their parking lot.

And now for some pictures of our members driving in the parade around the fairgrounds and some general shots of our displays.
